NFL Punt, Pass & Kick Competition
On Saturday, September 17th beginning at 1 pm the Boys & Girls Clubs of Sonoma Valley is hosting the NFL Punk, Pass & Kick Competition. All boys and girls aged 6-15 years old are invited to participate. The event is free and takes place at the Maxwell Clubhouse at 100 W. Verano Avenue in Sonoma. Boys and girls compete separately. Only soft-sole gym shoes are permitted. No football shoes, turf shoes, cleats or bare feet are allowed. The top finisher in each of the boys' and girls' divisions from the five age brackets of each Local Competition will advance to the Sectional Round. The top finisher is the participant who has the highest final score for that round. Mobilize, Act, Inspire!
That was the theme of the recent Intel Computer Clubhouse Network Teen Summit in Boston last week. The summit brought together over 250 teens from 20 different countries including Ireland, Palestine, New Zealand, South Africa , the Philippines, and the United States. Three youth leaders of our Club attended the biennial event, where they had life changing experiences, meeting kids from around the globe, making new friends, exchanging ideas, learning new skills, and working together on projects.

Grant Awarded for After Shool Programs at Adele and Dunbar Schools
The Sonoma Valley Unified School District was recently awarded funding from the State of California to
support after school enrichment programs at two more schools in Sonoma Valley. The partnership with
the Boys & Girls Clubs of Sonoma Valley, who is currently serving Flowery, El Verano, and Sassarini
schools through ASES funding, will expand and the Club will provide the after school services at Altimira

Peterson Mechanical Tribute
Congratulations to Les Peterson of Peterson Mechanical, who received the 2008 Bay Area SMACNA (Sheet Metal and Air Conditioning Contractors National Association) Leadership Award. Les designated the Boys & Girls Club as the beneficiary of the $10,000 tribute check. The money was used to underwrite a staff training in classroom behavior management.
